Deputy PM: Operators not allowed hiking tariffs without control
MOSCOW, Dec 29 (PRIME) -- Russian connection operators will not be tolerated to raise tariffs above inflation uncontrollably, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko told PRIME in an interview published on Friday.
“Certainly, nobody will let operators cash in on our people and hike tariffs without control. The Federal Antimonopoly Service watches closely so that the tariffs would be justified, and I think, there should be no drastic jumps,” Chernyshenko said.
Over the recent 10 years, the operators have undertaken investment in creation of infrastructure and equipment, so they were unable to raise profit “at least in line with the inflation level.” Besides, Russia is on the edge of progress of the 5G technology.
Chernyshenko said the country should develop national equipment for all connection systems.
